Beauty salon owners ignore Chechen authorities' call for registration

Only the owners of shops selling hijabs responded to the call to register, but those to whom the appeal was addressed ignored it, said the assistant to the head of Chechnya, setting a deadline for sending data on representatives of the modeling industry, women's clothing stores and beauty salons.

The appeal to representatives of the modeling industry, owners of women's clothing stores and beauty salons, was ignored by those to whom it was addressed, said Amir Sugaipov, assistant to the head of Chechnya, deputy head of the secretariat of the head of the Chechen Republic and curator of youth in the republic.

"Only those whose work has no complaints contacted the indicated number - women selling headscarves, hijabs, abayas (Muslim dresses - note from "Caucasian Knot"). And those to whom this appeal was addressed simply remained silent. It feels like they didn't understand the seriousness of the situation," Grozny Inform quoted him as saying.

According to him, business representatives in this area have until Thursday (July 17) to "correct the situation." As follows from Sugaipov's Instagram* account, this address in the Chechen language was recorded on the evening of July 15. "The second warning. There will be no third," - these are the words he used to accompany the published video.

"In short, we will "invite" all owners of beauty salons and women's clothing stores to a meeting, and there we will set strict conditions. All their Instagram profiles*, phone numbers and everything else will be taken under strict control, and if anyone does not agree, they will be closed. We do not promise any gingerbread, but there will be a stick. In December 2024, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, called for the closure of beauty salons in the republic whose services are advertised by female models in a manner inappropriate for Muslim women.

"Beauty salons upload photos (to their social media pages) where female models demonstrate body parts that should not be shown. Salons that corrupt people must be closed," RIA Novosti translated his words from a video published on his personal Telegram channel.

As "Caucasian Knot" wrote, a large-scale inspection of beauty salons was carried out in 2015 at the direction of the head of the republic. At the same time, Ramzan Kadyrov noted that "there are many complaints about the quality of cosmetic surgeries." The inspection was conducted by special commissions, which included representatives of Rospotrebnadzor, the Ministry of Health, and law enforcement agencies. More than 80 establishments providing cosmetology services in Chechnya violate sanitary standards, the local prosecutor's office reported following a large-scale inspection. About 100 administrative cases have been initiated against the owners and employees of the salons.
