Sochi customs officers prevent smuggling of mining equipment to Abkhazia

Two cars, each of which was equipped with special hiding places where five crypto currency mining devices were hidden, were stopped at customs in the city of Adler.

Until the end of 2026, the import of any crypto currency mining equipment to Abkhazia and its use in the republic are prohibited.

According to the Sochi Branch of the Krasnodar Territorial Customs, at the customs post in Adler, officers have stopped a Toyota Crown car that was driving to Abkhazia. The car was sent for scanning, and it turned out that it had zones that were not typical for the car design. A specially equipped hideout was found behind the back seat and in the luggage compartment, where five crypto currency mining devices were hidden, the “Kuban 24” outlet wrote on June 16.

A short time later, a similar Toyota Crown Athlete car was stopped at the same post, in which a similar hideout with five more mining devices was found. Both the equipment and the cars were seized. The issue of initiating administrative proceedings is being decided.
