Vitaly Zhuravlyov’s new case sent to court

Vitaly Zhuravlyov, a resident of Akhtubinsk, has been charged with two episodes of repeated discrediting of the Russian Armed Forces for his comments posted on a social network.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in December 2023, a court fined Vitaly Zhuravlyov under an administrative article on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. The reason was an entry posted by Vitaly Zhuravlyov on the “VKontakte” social network with a photo of Vladimir Putin and a critical comment about Russian citizens. In June, Vitaly Zhuravlyov was involved as a suspect in a criminal case on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. The reason for the criminal proceedings was a comment criticizing the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. In December 2024, a court sentenced Vitaly Zhuravlyov to two years of imprisonment. Human rights defenders recognized Vitaly Zhuravlyov as a political prisoner.

A new case on repeated discrediting of the Russian Armed Forces has been instituted against Vitaly Zhuravlyov, who is serving his sentence in a case opened for his comments about participants in the special military operation in Ukraine, the “OVD-Info”* human rights project reports
