Zarema Musaeva calls help with medicines in prison a salvation
Two thirds of the funds needed to help Zarema Musaeva with medical treatment have been raised within two weeks. Some of the vital medicines have already been handed over to the political prisoner.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that at a court hearing held on March 21 in the case on disruption of the activities of the penal colony, Zarema Musaeva refused to admit guilt. The court extended her arrest for other six months. At the court hearing held on April 3, Zarema Musaeva called the version of causing physical harm to a penal colony employee a pre-planned fabrication and revenge. In March, human rights defenders began raising funds to stock up on medicines for Zarema Musaeva.
Many people from all over Russia responded to the call to help Zarema Musaeva, a source reports.
“During two weeks, we raised 200,000 roubles in support of Zarema Musaeva. Hundreds of people from all over the country took part in the fund-raising by responding to the request to help the person in trouble,” the source stated.
According to his information, some of the medicines have already been given to Zarema Musaeva this week. “In the current situation, these are not just medications, but an opportunity to live. Zarema herself wrote from the SIZO (pre-trial prison): “Thank you for your support, you are saving me,” the activist noted.
Organizers of the fund-raising expect to raise the entire planned amount, of which a third – 100,000 roubles – is still to be raised. This will provide the political prisoner with a year’s supply of medications. This is the first of its kind for Zarema Musaeva, the source emphasized.
All this time, the medications were purchased by family and relatives, says Abubakar Yangulbaev, a son of Zarema Musaeva.
