Journalist Nadezhda Kevorkova’s right to defence violated, her advocate claims
Investigators reduced the period for looking through the materials of the Nadezhda Kevorkova’s case from five to two days, advocate Kaloi Akhilgov reports.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on October 21, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow extended the Nadezhda Kevorkova’s arrest until December 6. Since May 7, the journalist has been in custody on the charge of justifying terrorism.
Advocate Kaloi Akhilgov reported that he was invited to look through the case materials from October 28 to November 1.
After some time, according to the advocate’s report, a message came from the investigator, who notified him “about the restriction of the time frame for looking through with the case materials, scheduled for October 29.” “That’s how it works: they notify about the possibility to look through the case materials until November 1, and they restrict it by October 29,” advocate Kaloi Akhilgov noted.
“To restrict Nadezhda in the possibility to look through the materials is an absolute violation of her right to defence,” the advocate emphasized.
