Astrakhan resident publicly apologizes for conflict near a store

The Astrakhan Regional Branch of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has posted a video in which a detainee publicly apologized for a conflict with a local woman near a store, during which he insulted her nationality.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that over the past two months, the above MIA Branch posted a number of videos in which local residents publicly apologized for various violations. Thus, in a video posted on October 2, an Astrakhan resident apologized for swearing in public transport.

In the above video posted in the page of the MIA Branch for the Astrakhan Region in the "VKontakte" social network, the detainee explained that he had a conflict with a woman near the store. "I had a quarrel. I apologize. <…> It turned out that I insulted her nation, I apologize to the woman and Astrakhan townspeople," the man said.

The conflict occurred because the man did not move his car and blocked the woman's one, an eyewitness has explained.

A protocol was drawn up against the man for disobeying the police and inciting hatred or enmity.

Earlier, analysts pointed out that by forcing offenders to publicly apologize on camera, Astrakhan law enforcers are trying to artificially increase the visibility and significance of their activities, but this humiliating measure has no intended effect.
