Attack on law enforcers in Chechnya becomes at least second incident since early 2024
An attack on a car with fighters of the “Rosgvardia” (National Guard of Russia) in Chechnya was preceded by an attack on a policeman in the Achkhoi-Martanovsky District in February. The information about the attack on a police checkpoint in Gudermes in early October has not been officially confirmed.
The “Rosgvardia” reported that one law enforcer was killed and another was wounded during a shelling of a military convoy in the village of Petropavlovskaya in the Grozny District.
According to the information of the “Caucasian Knot”, based on the edition’s own materials and information from open sources, the attack on the “Rosgvardia” in Chechnya was at least the second such incident since the beginning of the year.
On the night of February 14, in the village of Stary Achkhoi in the Achkhoi-Martanovsky District of Chechnya, three persons attacked a policeman and were shot dead. Investigators reported that one policeman was wounded.
The armed incident in the Achkhoi-Martanovsky District was preceded by an attack on a police checkpoint in Gudermes on March 29, 2023, when two suspects were killed by law enforcers.
Sources also reported that on October 5, at least two persons, including a law enforcer, were killed in an explosion which occurred near a police checkpoint in Gudermes. However, the above information has not been officially confirmed. WhatsApp* users spread the information about the danger of explosive devices disguised as children’s toys. The police of Chechnya denied the information about the explosion and disguised explosive devices, but did not explain the message which appeared on a social network concerning a reward for information about an assassination attempt on a law enforcer. Residents of Chechnya reported increased checks by law enforcers on the local roads.
