Analysts links Kadyrov's words about blood feud with Kremlin's silence regarding Wildberries

The Kremlin's absence of reaction to the shooting at the Wildberries office has led to a deepening conflict between elites of the republics of Northern Caucasus, the human rights defenders interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" has stated. In their turn, lawyers believe that not only Moscow, but also law enforcement bodies should respond to Kadyrov's words about the impending murder and possible blood feud.

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, when speaking about the conflict surrounding the Wildberries Company, mentioned Suleiman Kerimov, Senator from Dagestan, Bekkhan Barakhoev and Rizvan Kurbanov, State Duma MPs, calling on them to prove their non-involvement in the order to kill Kadyrov himself, and warned them of his readiness to declare blood feud to them.

During the meeting of the Ingush and Chechen delegations in Moscow, Adam Delimkhanov, a State Duma MP from Chechnya, placed responsibility for the incident on Bekkhan Barakhoev, a State Duma MP. Delegates from Ingushetia and Chechnya have put the situation around the conflict at the Wildberries office on hold, as they expect the Kremlin to have the final say, Ingush and Chechen analysts believe.

Svetlana Gannushkina*, the Chair of the "Civic Assistance" Committee*, has pointed to the silence of the federal government.

"How is that possible? One of the heads of a federal subject is declaring a blood feud," she has noted.

According to her version, the Kremlin's absence of reaction to the situation around the Wildberries also led to these consequences.

On October 9, Ramzan Kadyrov, while speaking about the conflict around the Wildberries Company, mentioned Suleiman Kerimov, Senator from Dagestan, and Russian State Duma MPs, Bekkhan Barakhoev and Rizvan Kurbanov. He called on them to prove their non-involvement in ordering his murder and warned of his readiness to declare a blood feud against them. For more details about the conflict, watch the video.

Ruslan Kutaev, a political analyst, has treated the allegedly revealed circumstances of the order to kill Kadyrov and the announcement of a blood feud as the results of a pre-planned provocation.

"This is a provocation launched by someone so that each side of the conflict suspects the other one that they are being plotted against, that they want to be killed," Mr Kutaev has explained, adding that the Kremlin benefits from a situation of confusion, "when Chechens, Ingushes and Dagestanis are in conflict in the Caucasus, and the mistrust is growing between them."

Kadyrov's public statements are sufficient for the prosecutor's office and investigating bodies to begin an investigation, Timofei Shirokov, a lawyer, has stated.

  • Compensation decrease for illegal prosecution violates rights of KBR resident

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer. The amount is ridiculous and should be appealed against, lawyers and human rights defenders have stated.
