In case on riots at Makhachkala airport, defendant rejects his involvement in riots

Driver Magomed Irbeinov partially admitted guilt. The man emphasized that he was at the Makhachkala airport, but did not take part in the riots. The statement of Magomed Irbeinov has been confirmed by video recordings, his advocate reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the Armavir City Court sentenced Anvarbek Atayev, Islam Ibragimov, Magomed Omaraskhabov, Rabadan Radzhabov, and Salik Ramazanov, involved as defendants in the criminal case on the riots at the Makhachkala airport, to terms of imprisonment ranging from six years and four months to nine years. The court pronounced a harsh sentence, having no evidence of the defendants’ guilt, advocates and relatives of the convicted men stated.

On October 29, 2023, mass riots occurred at the Makhachkala airport caused by the arrival of a plane with passengers from Israel. As a result of the riots, more than 20 people were injured. The defendants claim that they arrived at the airport, but did not participate in the riots, noted Shamil Khadulaev, the chair of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Dagestan.

Advocate Ruslan Suleimanov reported that Magomed Irbeinov admitted that he was at the Makhachkala airport, but did not admit that he took any active actions.

Magomed Irbeinov is a father of four children who earns his living as a private taxi driver. “He transports various goods. Magomed helped his brother deliver furniture from his store. And that day he ended up at the airport because he was looking for his brother ... Even the video recordings from the airport show that Magomed did not call anyone to anything and did not take any active actions,” the advocate emphasized.

According to the advocate’s report, Magomed Irbeinov did not claim pressure. At the same time, the advocate has noted that the trial itself is of political nature.
