Artists appreciate significance of Kishev’s collection for Kabardino-Balkaria
The authorities of Kabardino-Balkaria have provided assistance to artist Mukhadin Kishev in his struggle for an art house in Nalchik, a lawyer reports. Artists consider national motifs in a modern interpretation as one of the features of the Mukhadin Kishev’s works.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in November 2021, Kazbek Kokov, the leader of Kabardino-Balkaria, promised to help solve the problem with the property rights of 82-year-old Mukhadin Kishev to the premises of the art house in Nalchik. Earlier, the artist and his spouse appealed to Ramzan Kadyrov for help, since the premises where the art house was set up were registered for a native of Chechnya. A court supported the artist in his struggle for the art house. Following the court’s decision, more than a thousand paintings will stay in Kabardino-Balkaria and will not be transported to some other destinations.
Film director Alexander Sokurov emphasizes he is glad that the court has confirmed the Mukhadin Kishev’s right to the art house in Nalchik, as the court’s decision allows preserving the Mukhadin Kishev’s paintings in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR). Alexander Sokurov notes that difficult situations often arise in the lives of talented people.
People’s Artist of Kabardino-Balkaria Mukhadin Kishev has been waiting for many years for the authorities of Kabardino-Balkaria to fulfil their promise to build his museum. In the summer of 2020, the artist announced that he no longer believed the authorities’ promise and decided to take the paintings prepared for the museum to Spain, where he lived since 1998. In November 2021, the Kishev Art Home was opened in Nalchik. Jacqueline Diana Moss, a Mukhadin Kishev’s spouse and art director, explains that is the art house which stores more than a thousand unique paintings.
Artist Tatiana Vaganova notes that the style of the Mukhadin Kishev’s works unites several different generations. “The spirit of modernity, stylistic methods, and techniques in the works of Mukhadin Kishev is the bridge with which the author inextricably connects generations, transmits through time the genetic code, that is, fortitude, interest and love for his people, their deep history and culture,” artist Tatiana Vaganova emphasized.
Artist Dina Khashkhozheva considers Mukhadin Kishev’s competence in combining modern artistic aesthetics and traditional motifs to be a great talent.
