Policemen search home of Volgograd activist

Law enforcers have conducted a search in the apartment of Vladimir Telpuk, a Volgograd activist, explaining is as an inquiry into the case of the former coordinator of Navalny's office.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Vladimir Telpuk had repeatedly held solo pickets in Volgograd. Thus, on November 13, 2021, he demanded to stop torturing inmates in Russian jails. In August 2023, he held a picket dedicated to the anniversary of Alexei Navalny's poisoning.

Law enforcers came to Vladimir's apartment in the morning. According to him story, he would not open the door, although policemen knocked "persistently."

"They said that I was a witness in a criminal case against [the former coordinator of Navalny's office in Volgograd, Evgeny] Kochegin*. He is accused of discrediting the Russian Army. And as a witness, they'd search my apartment," Mr Telpuk said.

Activist Evgeny Kochegin*, who is now outside Russia, was added to the register of foreign agents in September 2023. The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) explained that he had carried out activities aimed at creating a negative image of Russia and distributed materials received from foreign agents.

"They asked what kind of relationship I had with Kochegin*. I answered that I had none at all. We kept informing him about our complaints regarding the case of denunciations and disclosure of one's personal data on the "Volgograd-1" TV channel ... They found nothing criminal and took away nothing from my place," Vladimir has concluded.

According to his story, he now plans to hire an advocate. "It is unknown how such a search will continue. They may change my witness status for the accused one," he has suggested.
