Police promise to protect Chechen woman Liya Zaurbekova, who escaped from domestic violence

The police promised human rights defenders and an advocate to ensure the safety of Liya Zaurbekova, a 19-year-old native of Chechnya, who fled from her family living in the Moscow Region. Liya Zaurbekova said she feared reprisals.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the family of Liya Zaurbekova, who ran away from her family because of permanent pressure and the risk of being killed, put her on the wanted list and found her in Moscow. Liya Zaurbekova was taken to a police station, around which members of her family gathered.

The police promised to ensure the safety of Liya Zaurbekova, the “Marem” human rights group reported in its Telegram channel.
