Details of case against Volgodonsk resident on discrediting Russian Army reported

Irina Ponomaryova, a resident of Volgodonsk, was fined 35,000 roubles for reposting a video and writing a comment on the “Odnoklassniki” social network criticizing the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on April 4, the Volgodonsk District Court issued a ruling on administrative punishment for local resident Irina Ponomaryova, accused of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

FSB officers found that on her page on the “Odnoklassniki” social network, Irina Ponomaryova reposted a video of another social media user and wrote her comment under the video. According to the law enforcers’ version, the repost and comment confirmed “the Irina Ponomaryova’s negative attitude towards the special military operation.”

Irina Ponomaryova did not appear in court. Her advocate explained that the defendant “admitted her guilt in full and, if found guilty, asked for a minimum punishment.” The court considered the admission of guilt to be a circumstance mitigating liability and founded the argument about the expiration of the statute of limitations to be ungrounded.
