Jehovah's Witness* Pavel Sidorenko sentenced to conditional imprisonment

A court in the town of Goryachy Klyuch (Krasnodar Territory) has found Pavel Sidorenko, a Jehovah's Witness*, guilty of taking part in an extremist organization and sentenced him to three years of conditional imprisonment (probation).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that one of Pavel's relatives claimed that the investigator had incorrectly interpreted his testimony. Sidorenko had never imposed his faith on anybody, the witness asserts.

However, the court found the 66-year-old Jehovah's Witness*, Pavel Sidorenko, guilty and sentenced him to three years of probation, the human rights project "OVD-Info"** has informed.

An activists of the European Association of Jehovah's Witnesses* reported earlier that the Krasnodar Territory and Rostov Region had most criminal cases initiated against Jehovah's Witnesses* among all the regions of Southern Russia.

*396 Russian organizations of Jehovah's Witnesses are recognized as extremist, and their activities in Russia are banned by court's decision.
