Israeli citizen detained in Kuban for plans to defect to Ukraine

Law enforcers have detained and expelled from Russia Yuval Lanzman, a former Israeli Defence Force soldier, who had planned to go to Ukraine and fight against the Russian Armed Forces.

According to investigators, Yuval Lanzman, born in 1960, sent his data to terrorist organizations banned in Russia in order to join them.

Lanzman is a former IDF soldier (Israeli Defence Forces, – note by the "Caucasian Knot"). He has a negative attitude towards the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine and Russian authorities' policies, and planned to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the press service of the branch of the FSB (Russian Federal Security Service) for the Krasnodar Territory has reported, as quoted by the RIA "Novosti".

Mr Lanzman was warned about the inadmissibility of participating in a terrorist organization; and law enforcers ensured that he left Russia for further relocation to Israel. He is also barred from entering Russia.

On December 29, 2023, it became known that a local resident was detained in the Krasnodar Territory on suspicion of trying to leave for Ukraine and fight against the Russian Armed Forces.
