Ingush elders address Balkars on eve of anniversary of deportation

In 1944, the Stalin’s regime deported the peoples of the Caucasus, groundlessly declaring them enemies, although at the same time their representatives were fighting at the war front. That was emphasized by Ingush elders in their address to the Balkar people on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of their deportation to Central Asia.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in Kabardino-Balkaria, people mark the anniversary of the deportation of the Balkar people on March 8.

The appeal by Ingush elders to the Balkar people on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the eviction to Kazakhstan and Central Asia has been published on the themagastimes public account in Instagram*. The Stalin’s regime indiscriminately declared the peoples the enemies and subjected them to eviction from their homeland to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the elders noted. “On that festive spring day in 1944, 37,000 people were deported in the most blasphemous manner. Most of them were old people, women, and children,” the appeal states.

The elders recalled that many of the sons of those who were deported, as well as their fathers and husbands, were fighting at the war front at that moment. “Two weeks earlier, all Chechens and Ingushes were subjected to total eviction in the same vile manner,” the Ingush elders noted.

Let us remind you that on February 26, it became known that Oleg Kelemetov, a resident of Nalchik, sent a complaint to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), in which he demanded to check the decisions of the USSR State Defence Committee on the deportation of the peoples of the Caucasus in 1944.
