Sources report losses among law enforcers during CTO in Karabulak

During the counterterrorist operation (CTO) in Karabulak, five FSB officers were injured. A battle with suspected militants appeared to be long because the suspects turned an apartment into a fortress located on two floors, sources reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on March 3, law enforcers killed six suspected militants in Karabulak.

The National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) reported that while law enforcers were trying to detain suspected militants, the suspects opened fire on them, a shootout took place, and residents of nearby houses were evacuated. As a result, six suspects were killed. They were supporters of the international terrorist organization “ISIL” (a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”), and three of them were on the wanted list.

According to the investigators’ version, the militant grouping was organized by Amirkhan Gurazhev. The apartment belonged to Kazbek Chemurziev, who was serving his long sentence for theft, drug trafficking, and other charges. FSB officers paid their attention to the apartment after new tenants appeared in it.

The killed Amirkhan Gurazhev from the village of Inarki was wanted for organizing an armed grouping and a terrorist organization, promoting terrorism, and illegal trafficking in explosives and firearms.

Zelimkhan and Tagir Tsuroev, the other two suspects, killed during the CTO, were wanted in connection with terrorism. According to the investigators’ version, Bers Chemurziev helped the wanted militants take refuge in his friend’s apartment. The man had an earlier criminal record for theft. Mikail Tutaev and Magomed Barkinkhoev, also killed by the law enforcers, had no earlier criminal records and were not wanted.
