Adygea head and senators from Dagestan and KBR come under Australian sanctions
Australia has imposed sanctions on Murat Kumpilov, the head of Adygea, and on Ilyas Umakhanov and Arsen Kanokov, the senators (members of the Russia's Federation Council) from Dagestan and the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), accordingly. Australian authorities treat them, as well as several dozen other Russian citizens, as those involved in the removal of children from regions of Ukraine, which were later incorporated into Russia.
In its turn, Moscow claims that children were evacuated from dangerous areas, the "Kommersant" writes.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 23, it became known that the United States included Akhmed Dudaev, the head of the Chechen Ministry for Nationalities, into the sanctions list. He has stated that he is only afraid of sanctions from Ramzan Kadyrov and the Almighty.
Apart from individuals, sanctions have been imposed on 37 Russian legal entities. The restrictions are timed to the second anniversary of the start of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, the RBC has clarified.
