Dagestan: at least 10 persons prosecuted for calls for protests

Six people have served their arrests; three others were fined and one was sentenced to compulsory labour for their calls posted in the WhatsApp* to go out to a rally in support of the detained rioters at Makhachkala Airport.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Supreme Court (SC) of Dagestan had received 143 complaints against the arrests made within the criminal case regarding mass riots in Makhachkala. Three people were also charged with using violence against a law enforcer; one with an attempt on a law enforcer's life. For most of those accused, arrests were extended until the end of March, while almost no investigative actions are being conducted, the advocates have claimed.

Dagestani district courts have considered at least ten administrative cases initiated for posting information about rallies in support of the arrested participants in anti-Semitic riots at the Makhachkala Airport, the "Kavkaz.Realii"** project has reported**.

The Nogai District Court has fined Soltanbek Djalalov by 10,000 roubles for his call for a rally on November 5 in support of those detained for the above riots.

The Kizlyar District Court has imposed the same fine on Rashid Tazhdinov for his status in the messenger with a call to go to an action, noting his three children as a mitigating circumstance.

The Tarumovsky District Court has sentenced Bulat Mugalov to two days of arrest for his call to go to the Makhachkala administration in support of those detained at the airport. He explained that he thought that the rally had been coordinated with authorities.

*On March 21, 2022, the Tverskoi Court of Moscow banned the activities in Russia of the Meta Company, owning the Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, in connection with extremist activities.
