Daniil Vodolagin, accused of fakes about Russian Army, left at Volgograd SIZO for six months
The Sovietsky District Court of Volgograd has extended the arrest of Daniil Vodolagin, accused of spreading fake news about the Russian Army, by six months. The judge has rejected the advocate's arguments in favour of mitigating the young man's freedom restriction measure.
The above court has received the criminal case initiated against Daniil Vodolagin, accused of spreading fakes about the Russian Army: before October 2022, he used to place pacifist posts in social networks.
According to investigators, Daniil had publicly spread deliberately false information about the use of the Russian Armed Forces, guided by political and ideological hatred or enmity.
Daniil is liable for military service, but was not drafted into the army due to restrictions identified at the medical examination. Over the past two years, he has been twice brought to administrative responsibility. According to Vodolagin's characteristics, he was treated as an interesting conversationalist, knew how to defend his viewpoints, and "was respected among his comrades."
Sergey Ivaschenko, a lawyer, has explained that the minimum that Vodolagin faces is a fine of three million roubles, while the maximum is 10 years of freedom deprivation. He has noted that the criterion of "information unreliability" in Russian legislation has become very popular in the last two to three years.
