Resident of Chechnya detained in Bishkek after trying to escape from Russia

At the Manas Airport, in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, law enforcers have detained Mansur Movlaev, a native of Chechnya, who was on the wanted list in Russia within in the case of financing extremism.

According to Tolekan Ismailova, the head of the human rights movement "Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan", Mansur Movlaev was placed into the SIZO (pre-trial prison) in Kyrgyzstan.

Movlaev was detained at the Bishkek Airport, when he arrived there, the “Vesti.kg” writes.

In 2020, Movlaev was sentenced to three years of freedom deprivation; his supporters claim that the case against him was fabricated. In 2022, he was released on the conditional early relief (CER), but he was detained by law enforcers in Chechnya, the “24.kg” has reported.

Movlaev escaped from an illegal prison; he has no documents, but he managed to get to Kyrgyzstan, the brothers Ibragim and Beisungar Yangulbaev informed in their YouTube channel.

In 2022, Movlaev was kidnapped and held in the above prison; then a case was fabricated against him for financing extremism. He fled Russia because he was threatened with about 10 years in prison.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that authorities’ critics were repeatedly persecuted in Chechnya. Thus, in September 2020, a video, in which a naked man, who identified himself as Salman Tepsurkaev, was sitting on a bottle, caused a wide resonance; he explained that he was doing this as punishment for collaborating with the "1Adat"* Telegram channel. The authors of the channel stated that the moderator of their chat had been kidnapped and publicly humiliated by law enforcers.

*In July 2021, the Zavodskoi District Court of Grozny treated a number of posts placed in the "1Adat" Telegram channel as extremist and also found the "1Adat" Movement's Internet resources as prohibited; and in May 2022, the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya recognized the "1Adat" Movement itself as an extremist organization and banned its activities in the territory of Russia.
