In April 2023, four people perished in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

In April 2023, in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, four people perished and eight others were wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.

On April 3, at a farm in Malgobek, law enforcers found a group of alleged participants in the attack on the road-and-patrol (DPS) traffic police post, but the suspects opened fire, wounded one law enforcer and fled. A counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was announced in the Malgobek District. On April 5, in the village of Zyazikov-Yurt, during the CTO, law enforcers found a grouping of alleged militants. When law enforcers tried to arrest them, they resisted and opened fire. Three policemen were killed, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ingushetia reported. According to sources, eight other law enforcers were wounded.

The battle in Zyazikov-Yurt on April 5 became the second incident after August 2012, when in one day the losses among law enforcers amounted to 11 people, it follows from the chronicle of armed incidents in Ingushetia, which has been run by the "Caucasian Knot" since 2006 based on official information and open data.

Also on April 5, it became known that the body of allegedly Movsar Kottoev, who had been put on the wanted list in the case of an attack on the DPS post located on the Ingush-North-Ossetian border, was found.

The last time the victims of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus were recorded in March 2023. Then, three alleged militants were killed.

This statistics cannot present the count of victims with 100-percent accuracy. Not all the data gets into news bulletins. It is not always possible to verify the statements of law enforcement bodies; and new data on the events that occurred in the reporting period sometimes become known after the publication of another portion of statistics by the "Caucasian Knot".

In other regions of Northern Caucasus, which include Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, Stavropol Territory and Chechnya, no armed incidents or victims of the armed conflict were recorded in April 2023.
