Chechen resident gets suspended sentence for his posts on social media

The Naursky Сourt of Chechnya recognized posts of a local resident on the social media to be public calls for extremism and sentenced him to a year of suspended imprisonment.

The man is also banned from administering websites for a year, the human rights project “OVD-Info”* reports.

The man’s posts allegedly contained calls for violence against law enforcers.

The “Caucasian Knot” has also reported that earlier, a resident of Chechnya was sentenced to three years of imprisonment for publicly calling for extremism and justifying terrorism.

*Included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) into the register of foreign agents.
