Makhachkala: law enforcers detain picketer

In Makhachkala, Ibragim Parkuev, a local resident, has been detained, after he came out with a poster in which he congratulated Alexei Navalny* on his birthday.

On June 4, Alexei Navalny* turned 47; in Russian cities, law enforcers detained activists at solidarity rallies with the convicted politician. In Volgograd, Anna Semionova, a local resident, was brought to the police station after she came out with a poster "You are not alone. Happy birthday!"

Ibragim Parkuev went to the picket with a poster "Happy birthday, Alexei!" the "OVD-info"** project has reported.

Today, the residents of Volgograd, sympathetic to Navalny*, have held a secret "protest walk" today. They explained the refusal from open solidarity actions by the fear of criminal prosecution.

*Navalny's offices are recognized as extremist organizations and banned in Russia. Alexei Navalny is a founder of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (known as FBK), an NCO that is included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) into the register of NCOs performing functions of a foreign agent. The NCO is also recognized by a court as extremist and banned in the territory of Russia.
