Son of arrested Zarema Musaeva put on federal wanted list

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has put Baisangur Yangulbaev, a son of Zarema Musaeva, on the federal wanted list, the human rights project “OVD-Info”* reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Ibragim Yangulbaev, one of Zarema Musaeva’s sons, was put on the wanted list in a case on justification of terrorism, and the “Rosfinmonitoring” (the Russian Federal Agency for Financial Monitoring) included him into the register of extremists and terrorists. In November 2022, Baisangur Yangulbaev was also included in the list of extremists and terrorists. The decision is connected with Baisangur’s participation in the activities of the “1Adat”** Movement, which is in opposition to the authorities of Chechnya, his brother Abubakar Yangulbaev states. Ibragim and Baisangur Yangulbaev now live in Europe.

After the detention of Zarema Musaeva, Ramzan Kadyrov accused the Yangulbaev family of organizing a terrorist network and said that a place “in prison or underground” was waiting for them. Adam Delimkhanov, an adviser to Ramzan Kadyrov, threatened the Yangulbaev family with reprisals.

Read the “Caucasian Knot” reference material “How Yangulbaevs became Kadyrov’s enemies” to find how the conflict began, what accusations Ramzan Kadyrov voiced, what the Yangulbaev family answered the leader of Chechnya, and what role in the development of the situation was played by an opposition Telegram channel.

**In July 2021, the Zavodskoi District Court of Grozny recognized a number of posts by the “1Adat” Telegram channel as extremist and also recognized the “1Adat” Movement’s Internet resources as prohibited, and in May 2022, the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya recognized the “1Adat” Movement itself as an extremist organization and banned its activities in Russia.
