Activist from Adygea challenges the fine imposed for fakes about Russian Army
Igor Korotkov has sent an appeal to the Supreme Court (SC) of Adygea against the decision of the court, which had fined him, treating his link in a messenger as dissemination of fake news about the Russian Army.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a court in Adygea fined the 39-year-old Igor Korotkov by 800,000 roubles, treating the video about the Russian Army, posted by him on the WhatsApp in March 2022, as a fake.
Lawyers have pointed out that messages posted in public chats can become a reason for accusations of fakes about the Russian Army.
According to the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project, Igor Korotkov claimed law enforcers' pressure. "I do not agree that I am charged under the article "for spreading knowingly false information." I disagree with charges under the article of 'spreading willingly false information.' I wasn't aware that it was false; and law enforcers put pressure on me to confess," he has stated, adding that, as an activist, he tried to participate in solving social and economic problems in his native village of Krasnogvardeiskoye, as well as of regional environmental problems. He has noted that he was twice brought to administrative responsibility under the article on disobedience to a policeman's demand.
