Pacifist comments in social network result in arrest of Sochi resident

A Sochi resident was detained in connection with his pacifist comments, after which law enforcers accused him of disobeying the policeman's lawful demands, and by a court decision, he was arrested.

Policemen detained him on February 21. The man said that law enforcers demanded from him to confirm his authorship of the comments and unblock his phone. When he refused, they drew up a protocol against him under the article on disobeying a policeman, the "OVD-Info"* project has reported.

According to the police, the man "tried to escape." The next day, the court arrested him for ten days. While he was at the temporary detention facility (known as the IVS), the police came to his home with seriously ill mother and forced her to give access to his computer and correspondence.

Upon his release from the IVS, he was again met by a law enforcer, who demanded from him to sign some paper. Otherwise, he threatened to re-issue the protocol under the article on disobedience; then, the law enforcer told him to "wait for the summons to the court."

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on March 2, Natalia Bushueva was taken to the police station after holding a solo picket near the monument to Saint Catherine the Great Martyr in Krasnodar. Later, she was released from the police station with a protocol under an article about discrediting the Russian Army.
