Makhachkala resident fined for pacifist publications

A court in Makhachkala has imposed a fine of 30,000 roubles on Zaur Radjabov, a local resident, finding his pacifist posts in social networks to be discrediting Russian militaries.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 12 it became known that the case against Radjabov, accused of discrediting the Russian Army, was resubmitted to the Makhachkala court.

In January 2023, the Leninsky District Court returned Zaur Radjabov's administrative case on discrediting Russian militaries to law enforcers demanding from them to eliminate some procedural violations.

Now, the court has concluded that no later than December 4, 2022, Radjabov posted some posts on the Instagram "aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and its citizens." The court has treated his several pacifist phrases to be such posts.

Let us remind you that on March 4, 2022, an article has been enforced in Russia that provides for a fine on citizens for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. Under this article, participants in pacifist actions and authors of publications in social networks are punished. A repeated offence under this article committed within a year threatens criminal prosecution.
