Volgograd teenager sentenced in case on terrorism leaves Russia
A teenager from Volgograd, sentenced to compulsory medical treatment in a case on terrorism, left Russia together with his mother. He is put on the wanted list.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on July 14, 2022, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don found a teenager from Volgograd guilty of preparing an attack on a school and, considering that the teenager was socially dangerous, decided to send him to a hospital for compulsory medical measures. The teenager’s mother said that her son’s life had just improved, he had entered a college, and the sentence deprived him of hope for the future.
The teenager was arrested in June 2020 when he was 14 years old. According to the investigators’ version, the teenager was preparing the murder of a school employee and one of the students, for which he made a bomb. There is no convincing evidence of the investigators’ version, and the psychiatrist’s conclusions about the teenager’s insanity are doubtful, the defence points out.
The teenager left Russia together with his mother, the “Kavkaz.Realii”* reports. The family decided to leave the country after a court of appeal upheld the sentence of the teenager, his mother said.
According to the woman, doctors of the psychiatric hospital, in which her son was being kept during the trial in accordance with the court’s decision, told her that the sentence on compulsory medical measures meant at least five years to be spent in the hospital.
