Court in Chechnya upholds contract soldier's dismissal for refusal to service trip

The command of the military was right by dismissing Zaur Kaimov, a contract soldier, for refusing to go on a service trip, a court in Grozny has ruled.

The Grozny Garrison Military Court has rejected the claim lodged by Zaur Kaimov, a former military contractor, who challenged the order to dismiss him from the army for refusing to go on a service trip during the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports.

Zaur Kaimov has stated that since 2016 he had faithfully fulfilled the terms of his contract, being the commander of a mortar crew, and was unjustifiably brought to disciplinary responsibility. His commanders stated that on July 11, 2022, he refused to go on a service trip to a combat training ground; and therefore he was fired.

Kaimov himself explained that he had planned to pass the military medical commission, and therefore he didn't go to the training ground.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported about Vitaly Mozgalin, a serviceman of the GRU (Russian Main Intelligence Directorate) special unit from the Krasnodar Territory, who refused to take part in the SMO in Ukraine and was demoted from a corporal to a private. The command had the right to demote Mozgalin, since the mobilization campaign, which restricted militaries' rights, was not officially completed, the lawyers then said in their comments.
