Astrakhan resident fined for pacifist comments in social media
A court in Astrakhan has imposed a fine on a local resident, Ifrat Khabibulin, finding his comments in a social network as discrediting Russian militaries.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 4, 2022, Russia introduced liability for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces, after which residents of Southern Russia and Northern Caucasus began to be held accountable under these articles. The maximum punishment provides for a fine of 50,000 roubles for citizens, but a repeated violation within a year entails already criminal responsibility.
The Trusovsky Court of Astrakhan has fined Ifrat Khabibulin, a local resident, by 35,000 roubles, finding him guilty of discrediting the army in his comments posted in the “Odnoklassniki” social network, the “Kavkaz.Realii”* project reports. Operative agents questioned the man; and he “did not deny his involvement in posting comments,” which, according to law enforcers and the court, had discredited the actions of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine.
