Parents of emigrant blogger detained in Astrakhan

Vasily Shevtsov, a blogger who left Russia after the announcement of mobilization, has reported the detention of his parents in Astrakhan. He associates the persecution of his relatives with his oppositional publications.

According to the blogger, his parents, Yuri and Galina Shevtsov, were detained in Astrakhan and left overnight at the police station.

According to Vasily, law enforcers did not allow his sister to enter the building and see her parents; and they did not explain the reason for their detention to her either. During the last contact, the blogger's father said that he and his wife had been "taken away for interrogation," the "OVD-Info"* human rights project reports.

The blogger links his parents' detention with his publications on the Telegram and YouTube, the SOTA media project has added.

Vasily Shevtsov left Russia on September 22. His YouTube project "Caspian Poacher", which is described as a "military-political channel", exists since September 2019 and now has 5300 subscribers.

In October and November 2022, the "Caspian Poacher" published videos with pacifist slogans, criticism of the mobilization and Russian authorities.
