Forced expulsion of genies from Leyla Gireeva conflicts with Islam
Islam envisions no forced exorcism, moreover with the use of force, Leonid Syukiyainen, an Islamic scholar, and Imam Rasul Akhmadov have pointed out after the complaint announced by Leyla Gireeva, a native of Ingushetia, about attempts by her relatives to expel genies from her with the help of violence.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Leyla Gireeva told the police about regular violence from her parents. She asked for protection against her relatives, who, according to her story, could cripple or kill her.
The use of force to expel genies is strictly prohibited, said Leonid Syukiyainen, an expert in the Islamic law. "This is a terrible violation of human rights ... To expel a genie from a person, one should, lead a righteous life and hope for the Almighty," the Islamic scholar has stated.
According to his story, the practice of forcing genies out has nothing to do with the Koran either. "There is no such practice in Islam as a whole. Only prayers and faith in the Almighty can help. Everything else is an invention of the so-called healers," Mr Syukiyainen has explained.
The traditions of expelling genies are common in the Caucasus; the Islamic exorcism is practised both in mosques and at home by folk healers.
Imam Rasul Akhmadov has confirmed that expelling genies is allowed only with the help of prayers, while the use of force is not allowed.
