Krasnodar pacifist deputy resigns in protest

Igor Azarov has left for Serbia in protest against the military operation in Ukraine and announced his resignation as the City Duma deputy.

This fact was announced by Azarov in his Telegram channel. "Now, I'm in Serbia ... A few days ago I decided not to return, because I don't support the Russia's (military operation) in Ukraine. My beliefs don't allow me to take up arms," Igor has written, stressing that he had a "very high" probability of being mobilized.

According to the website of the Krasnodar City Duma, Azarov is 30 years old.

"In 2011, I entered the Lomonosov Moscow State University; I have a master's degree in political sciences. While at university, I was engaged in social activities: I organized election observation (prevented fraud), helped political prisoners, and defended students' rights," Igor Azarov said in his autobiography.

Among the topics that Azarov wrote about were the problems of the Krasnodar urban environment, the election of the city Mayor and violations during mobilization.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that attempts have been recorded in Southern Russia to mobilize people who, due to their age or state of health, should not be sent to the war zone.
