Policemen sentenced for killing North Ossetian Tskaev released early
Spartak Buzoev and Alan Bigaev has been released on conditional early relief (CER). This is reported by the human rights project “Axioma” on its Telegram channel.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in April, the Supreme Court (SC) of North Ossetia commuted the sentences of six policemen sentenced in the case on the death of Vladimir Tskaev, a resident of Vladikavkaz, who died after being tortured by the police. Four of the convicted policemen were released from punishment due to the expiry of the period of limitations, and the court reduced the terms of imprisonment for two other policemen. The family of Vladimir Tskaev demanded 15 million roubles from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) as compensation for non-pecuniary damage. Lawyers considered the chances of fair compensation minimal.
The court hearings took place on October 28, and a widow of Vladimir Tskaev did not receive by mail the notice of the court hearing until November 7. Thus, the victim did not have the opportunity to inform the court in due time of her disagreement with the motion of the sentenced law enforcers.
Zemfira Tskaeva, the widow of the deceased man, intends to appeal against the decision to release the former policemen on CER, the “Krylya TV” (Wings TV) reports on its Telegram channel.
