Network users call to severely punish Dagestani law enforcers for torturing Kurashova
The prosecutor has demanded to sentence the two law enforcers accused of torturing Yulduz Kurashova, a Khasavyurt resident, to 5.5 years in prison each, and to impose a suspended sentence on the third figurant for falsifying evidence. Some users of the "VKontakte" social network have treated the demanded punishment as too lenient and proposed to toughen it up.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 24, the court ruled to provide state protection to Yulduz Kurashova, a resident of Khasavyurt, who complained about law enforcers' threats; they were accused of torturing her.
The case of abuse of office with the use of violence was initiated after Kurashova complained of harsh detention and coercion to sign confessions of selling drugs. She also stated that a large amount of money had been taken from her in exchange for not opening a criminal case.
The woman said that she was beaten up at the police station and demanded to confess to distributing drugs. Unable to withstand the torture, she signed the confession.
Let us remind you that law enforcers detained Kurashova, who was travelling in a taxi, on March 26, 2020, in Khasavyurt. According to her story, she was beaten up, insulted, threatened with deprivation of her parental rights and initiation of a drug dealing case. Kurashova handed over 250,000 roubles to law enforcers, but was still subjected to criminal prosecution.
She was detained as part of law enforcers' routine work; and she got bruises when she resisted them, the defendants' advocate has stated.
