Owner claims presence of all permits to operate quarry in Ardon District
The allocation of a site in the outskirt of the city of Ardon for the development of a sand and gravel quarry was coordinated with all the ministries, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of North Ossetia has announced. In his turn, the owner of the quarry has confirmed that all the necessary permits to operate the quarry had been obtained.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 20, residents of Ardon held a rally against the construction of a sand and gravel quarry in the city's southern outskirt. After the protests, Sergey Menyailo, the head of North Ossetia, demanded to suspend the development of the quarry.
The North-Ossetian Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology has commented on the situation with the above quarry in the outskirt of Ardon. According to a ministry official, when allocating a site for the auction, coordination was achieved with all interested bodies, including the administration of the Ardon District.
Alexander Rubaev, general director of the "Vertical" Company – the winner of the auction, has noted that his company possesses all the necessary permits to start developing the quarry.
Alik Pukhaev, an Ossetian blogger, believes that the authorities' promptness in closing the quarry in the Ardon District had to do with the elections to the regional parliament. "Usually, authorities pay no attention to such projects for months and years, even if they threaten people's health," the blogger told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. In his opinion, officials will soon allow to reopen the quarry.
