Among the regions, most deaths have been confirmed in Dagestan – 217 persons.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 25, 2022, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) reported the death toll in the special operation of 1351 Russian military servicemen, and 3825 wounded ones. Since then, the MoD has not voiced any data on its casualties and wounded persons.

At the moment, the deaths in Ukraine of 217 natives of Dagestan, 92 natives of North Ossetia, 60 natives of the Stavropol Territory, 39 natives of Kabardino-Balkaria, 25 natives of Chechnya and 25 natives of Ingushetia, as well as five residents of Karachay-Cherkessia have been officially confirmed.

The authorities in the Volgograd Region have confirmed the deaths of 102 natives of the region; of the Krasnodar Territory – of 44 natives; of the Astrakhan Region – of 38 locals; of the Rostov Region – of 35 natives. Already on May 20, the number of law enforcers from Northern Caucasus who perished in Ukraine exceeded the total number of those who perished in the armed conflict during the last eight years.

Earlier, analysts pointed to the deficit of information about the death toll in Ukraine. The true scale of losses in the special operation cannot be assessed until it is over, Alexei Malashenko has noted.
