Kadyrov reports about sending fighters of elite military units to Ukraine

Fighters of the elite units, the “Yug” battalion and the “Sever” regiment, went to Ukraine, and many of them go there not for the first time, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on September 6, Ramzan Kadyrov announced that “several thousand more determined volunteers and elite fighters” were preparing to be sent to the special military operation zone. The leader of Chechnya also pointed out that “new units – two regiments and three battalions – had been created, which included real military professionals.”

Today, Ramzan Kadyrov has announced on his Telegram channel that “the best sons of the Chechen people, warriors of two elite special units” went from Grozny to Ukraine, including the “Sever” (North) regiment named after Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov and the “Yug” (South) battalion.

The fighters of the “Sever” regiment have found themselves at the centre of scandals more than once. So, in March 2015, Ruslan Geremeev, an officer of the “Sever” battalion, was put on the wanted list in connection with his possible involvement in the murder of oppositionist Boris Nemtsov.

After the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, the Chechen authorities announced the creation of a number of new military units. So, on June 26, Ramzan Kadyrov announced that four battalions of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) would be formed in Chechnya, including “Sever-Akhmat”, “Yug-Akhmat”, “Zapad-Akhmat”, and “Vostok-Akhmat”, which would include “exclusively Chechen guys.”

At the same time, Ramzan Kadyrov announced the need to deprive from benefits the families of low-income residents of Chechnya, young people from whom refused to be enrolled in the new Chechen military units.
