Arrest of leaders of Talysh Cultural Centre extended in Azerbaijan

In Azerbaijan, the arrest term of Novruzali Mamedov, Chairman of the Talysh Cultural Centre and editor-in-chief of the "Tolyshi Sado" newspaper, and Elman Guliev, executive secretary of this public organization, has been prolonged for three months more. This decision was passed by the Sabail Court without participation of the detainees, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the committee for defence of their rights.

We note here that during six months the investigation failed to find any proofs of detainees' guilt.

The committee has also emphasized that during the last half-year the authorities did allow family members of Novruzali Mamedov and Elman Guliev to see their relatives, which is a severe violation of the legislation.
