Kadyrov announces creation of new police regiment in Chechnya
In Chechnya, a police regiment of more than 2000 servicemen is being recruited in order to guard oil and gas facilities; 600 people have already expressed their desire to serve in the new unit, Ramzan Kadyrov has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in July, it became known that Imams were attracted to recruiting law enforcers in Chechnya. This suggests that work in law enforcement bodies has become unpopular due to the special operation in Ukraine, analysts believe. When applying for a job in law enforcement bodies, people will be enrolled in the reserve, and then faced with the fact that they are obliged to participate in the special operation.
Ramzan Kadyrov has announced the formation of a new police regiment in Chechnya in his Telegram channel. He has explained that "the work is underway to create an additional police regiment to protect the oil and gas complex of the private security division of the Chechen Branch of the 'Rosgvardiya' (Russian National Guard)."
On June 26, 2022, Kadyrov announced that four battalions of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) would be formed in Chechnya: "North-Akhmat", "South-Akhmat", "West-Akhmat" and "East-Akhmat".
It should be noted here that the head of Chechnya announced the demand for Southern Russia as a pre-emptive tactical measure of air defence bases. In Kadyrov's opinion, one of them can be placed in the Shali District of Chechnya. The republic may become an object of shelling due to the active participation of Chechen militaries in the special operation, Alexander Dandykin, an expert, has suggested.
