Authorities confirm information about 600 natives of Southern Russia perished in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, at least 600 residents of Southern Russia have been officially confirmed perished, including 378 natives of Northern Caucasus and 174 residents of the Southern Federal District (SFD). Most of the perished militaries were natives of Dagestan: the local authorities reported about at least 196 perished natives of the republic.

On March 2, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) reported that 498 Russian fighters perished in the special military operation, and other 1597 were wounded. On March 25, the Russian MoD reported about 1351 perished and 3825 wounded militaries. Since that time, the MoD of Russia has not voiced any information about the number of deceased.

The authorities reported about 85 perished natives of North Ossetia, 53 – of the Stavropol Territory, 31 – of Kabardino-Balkaria, 22 – of Chechnya, 13 – of Ingushetia, and five – of Karachay-Cherkessia.

Since the beginning of the special military operation, the authorities of the SFD regions have reported about at least 195 perished compatriots. In the Volgograd Region, the information about 74 perished natives of the region was confirmed, in the Krasnodar Territory – 40, in the Astrakhan Region – 35, and in the Rostov Region – 33. The information about seven perished natives of Kalmykia and six fighters from Adygea was also confirmed.

It should be noted that by May 20, more law enforcers from Northern Caucasus had perished in the special military operation in Ukraine than during the last eight years of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

    A shootout took place near an office of the “Wildberries” Company in the centre of Moscow. As a result, at least one person has been killed and several others have been wounded, sources report.
