Prosecutor's Office wants to stop "Pravo-Zaschita" and lock up Dmitrievskiy

On July 30, the Court of the Nizhniy Novgorod Region will consider the claim of the Regional Prosecutor's Office on liquidation of the "Pravo-Zaschita" (Human Rights Defence) newspaper, the editor-in-chief of which and head of the public organization "Society of Russian-Chechen Friendship" Stanislav Dmitrievskiy was convicted in February 2006 for kindling national enmity, the press service of the Regional Branch of "The Other Russia" has informed.

The judicial claim was lodged on May 31 by Vladimir Tkachov, Regional Prosecutor Deputy, the "Gazeta.Ru" informs. Mr Tkachov has stated that publications in the "Pravo-Zaschita" newspaper "created a real threat of breaching the constitutional human and citizen's rights and freedoms, to public safety, society and the state."

"The Other Russia" has also informed that on July 25 Mr Dmitrievskiy, when having appeared at the criminally-executive inspection, was warned that his conditional punishment could be replaced by actual imprisonment. He was orally told that it was related to obtainment of judicial decisions on his violation of the administrative legislation as a result of organization and participation in the "Disagreement March" in Nizhni Novgorod on March 24.
