Blogger Alibekov fined for discrediting army

The court found Askhabali Alibekov, a well-known Novorossiysk blogger, guilty of discrediting the Russian Army because of a YouTube video from a picket in the city square that he had posted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 13, the court arrested Askhabali Alibekov, a native of Dagestan, under the case of violating the deadline for appearing at the penitentiary inspection for a note. Another protocol under the article on discrediting Russian militaries was drawn up against Alibekov after he posted a video on the Internet with a call to stop the special operation in Ukraine.

On May 12, it became known that Alibekov was found guilty of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. The activist disagreed with the judgement and intends to challenge it.

Non-indifferent users transfer money to him for paying the fine, Askhab Alibekov himself has stated as quoted by the "Kavkaz.Realii"* outlet.

Earlier, Alibekov was sentenced to three years of conditional imprisonment. In 2017, the court established that he, while being a deputy platoon commander, hit a junior in rank serviceman. Alibekov fully pleaded guilty. In March 2018, he reported on his blog that after his appeal to Vladimir Putin to leave the presidency, he was fired from his service in the Navy and received threats against his family.
