Dagestani journalists blame law enforcers for exceeding powers

Policemen have illegally prevented a picket in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev in Makhachkala, Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik" portal, and the journalist, Murad Muradov*, who were detained at the venue assert. They have drafted complaints about law enforcers' actions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that policemen had explained the detention by the fact that they decided to remove the poster from the eyes of the officials, whose motorcade was supposed to bypass the venue.

Gadjiev's colleagues are regularly holding solo pickets in Makhachkala in his support, at which they also demand to stop persecuting journalists and release political prisoners.

The disruption of the picket had to do with the visit of Valentina Matvienko, the head of the Russia's Federation Council, to Dagestan, the journalist has informed.

Matvienko paid a visit to Dagestan on July 11 and 12. She criticized the Dagestan Ministry of Public Health of for commissioning poorly equipped feldsher's (paramedical) stations. Moscow is aware of regional problems; and the claims against Dagestan officials are indicative, and therefore none of them will be punished, the social network users who have watched the report have noted.

Law enforcers overdid it by detaining Magomedov and Muradov; they showed their incompetence, said Gadjimurad Sagitov, the editor-in-chief of the "Novoe Delo" outlet.

Law enforcers know Magomedov and Muradov, and they know about their seriousness and journalistic experience, Mr Sagitov has emphasized.
