Action "All are different - all are equal" cancelled in Georgia

The action that was to take place on July 29 in Tbilisi within the agenda of the Council of Europe's campaign entitled "All are different - all are equal" was cancelled. Paata Gachechiladze, head of the co-organizer of the event - the NGO "Union 21st Century," told about it to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In his turn, Igor Gaon, Representative of the CE's Secretary General for Georgia has stated that nobody was preparing a gay-parade or demonstration of representatives of sexual minorities in the capital of Georgia:

"We were planning that the action would rally together representatives of the young generation and people will limited physical capabilities, who will reflect their impressions by means of graffiti. Also, we were going to disseminate printed materials calling to tolerance. However, unfortunately, certain mass media have misinterpreted the idea of the action; the result was a certain misunderstanding."

We remind you that earlier the Patriarchy of Georgia disseminated the statement of Iliya the Second, Catholicos-Patriarch of Whole Georgia, running that holding in Tbilisi of the action "All are different - all are equal" is offending the religious feelings of the overwhelming majority of believers and can cause physical opposition, which will lead to pitiable outcomes.
