"Borjomi" workers end their strike

The managers of the "Borjomi" Company have agreed with the striking employees to end the strike, by agreeing to pay off the two-month wages debts and reinstate 48 out of 50 laid-off workers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the strike of workers of two mineral water bottling factories located in the town of Borjomi began on May 31. The strikers demanded better working conditions and the reinstatement of their laid-off colleagues.

On the 21st day of the strike, an agreement was reached between the workers and the company bosses, the TV-9 has reported on its website.

After the meeting with Ivane Machavariani, Director General, the strikers said they had reached an agreement with the company to pay off the two months' wage debts and reinstate 48 of the 50 laid-off workers. Two workers who are active trade union members were denied reinstatement.

The administration officials who are accused of threatening and blackmailing bottling plant workers will no longer enter the factories, the Director General has promised.

The protest action ends; on June 21 the parties intend to sign an agreement; and the factory workers will restart the production process, the TV-9 has informed.
