Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of sniper shelling

The positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed on the Armenian border were shelled from sniper rifles and small arms, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence  (MoD) stated on June 19.

The Armenian MoD reported that a 19-year-old conscript soldier died on June 18 during an Azerbaijani shelling in the direction of Vardenis.

The positions of the Azerbaijani army stationed near the village of Zivel in the Kelbadjar District were shelled in the afternoon on June 19 from sniper rifles and small arms, the press service of the Azeri MoD has reported.

The shooting was delivered from the position located near the village of Yukhary Shordja, the Basarkechyar District, says the message posted on the Russian-language version of the MoD's website. "Our units have taken adequate response measures," the message has noted.
