Armenian opposition demands to arrest Pashinyan

Nikol Pashinyan is responsible for the defeat in the autumn war in Nagorno-Karabakh and should be arrested, Aram Vardevanyan, an MP from the oppositional "Aiastan" parliamentary faction, has stated at a march held in Yerevan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 15, supporters of the opposition, demanding the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, held a march in Yerevan. On the eve thereof, protesters rolled up their tent camp set in France Square.

Investigators are fabricating cases against supporters of the protest movement based on law enforcers' testimonies alone, the MP Vardevanyan has stated. He believes that authorities are trying to intimidate the opposition, but "repressions cannot stop the protest movement."

"If investigators are guided by the law, the law enforcers who beat the protesters up on June 3 will end up in jails," Aram Vardevanyan believes.

Ishkhan Sagatelyan, the coordinator of protests, a Vice-Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, said that at the rally scheduled for June 18, the opposition will assess the Armenian-Azerbaijani agreements on the surrender of Nagorno-Karabakh and present mechanisms for removing Pashinyan from power.
