Ossetian blogger treats case on hate kindling as fabricated

The interrogation of the linguist, who had conducted the examination of the post by the Ossetian blogger, Batraz Misikov (Sidamon), has revealed violations in the procedure; and the defence demanded that his conclusion be declared invalid. The court has no proofs of Misikov's guilt, an advocate asserts. The case of inciting hatred is "sewn with white threads," the blogger himself has pointed out.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the blogger, Batraz Misikov, who writes under the pseudonym "Batraz Sidamon", was accused of promoting the superiority of Russians over Ossetians and inciting hatred towards the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) and the state. The reason for initiating the case was a comment on the initiative of the "Nyfs" movement to rename Lenin Street in honour of Toguzov, a Hero of the Soviet Union. The defence insists that Misikov had exercised his right to the freedom of speech.

The blogger's statement may be a reason for discussion, but not for initiating a case, the "Beslan Mothers" Committee has pointed out.

Batraz Misikov was one of the hostages in Beslan School No. 1 captured by terrorists in 2004. These events raised him to be a non-indifferent person who cares about his people and their future, the "Beslan Mothers" Committee has stated.
